We do things a little differently around here: we are focused on uplifting and supporting the BIPOC community in the PNW, especially those involved in the wedding industry. We aim to promote racial justice & equity within our Pacific Northwest communities.
We created this directory for Black and Brown wedding vendors because we all know how hard it is to get the recognition you deserve when mainstream media may not celebrate all the beautiful forms of love.
Our goal is to provide EQUAL OPPORTUNITY through REPRESENTATION, RECOGNITION AND EXPOSURE for the Wedding and Event industry as a whole. We will use our platform to amplify BIPOC voices and ensure our narrative continues to remain relevant, present and evident.
Who We Are
-
Marcela Pulido
CO-FOUNDER & CREATIVE DIRECTOR
(She/Her)Hola, I’m Marcela! A bilingual, first-gen Mexican-American wedding photographer and designer, originally from sunny Southern California but now thriving in Portland with my pup, Rupert. My work is deeply rooted in storytelling, celebrating diversity, and making sure BIPOC voices are seen, heard, and valued in the wedding industry.
Community is everything to me. Whether it’s through my work or collaborating with other vendors of color, I believe in uplifting, supporting, and making space for each other in an industry that hasn’t always welcomed us.
When I’m not behind the camera or at my laptop, you’ll find me sipping mezcal, hunting for the best tacos in town, exploring the PNW, or curled up with a good book.

Jaime Ta
CO-FOUNDER | DIRECTOR AND MEDIA RELATIONS
(She/Her)Hey there! I’m a Vietnamese American Wedding Planner & Event Coordinator with a love for getting people together. I grew up in sunny San Diego, CA where it was a large melting pot of different cultures.
I've lived in Portland, OR for the past decade and am enjoying putting down roots here with with my husband, daughter and pup. I hope to continue to lift up the BIPOC community by encouraging & fostering relationships between local PNW vendors.
You can find me trying out all the new restaurants in town and around the world when I’m not working :)
-
Jenny Kang
DIRECTOR OF MARKETING & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
(She/Her)Hi, I'm Jenny! I am a queer Korean American parent to two grown humans, originally from the Seattle area. I have been a professional photographer for nearly two decades and am most inspired by the art of storytelling in connection and the micro-communities I find myself in at every wedding I photograph.
I’m passionate about strengthening connections and supporting both established and up-and-coming businesses within the Northwest BIPOC wedding vendor community. Fortifying these connections is also key to driving meaningful change and inclusivity locally and in our broader communities. I’m old school, let’s meet in person- we need each other!
In my downtime, I love exploring Forest Park with my dog, a cold drink on a sunny patio with friends, catching comedy shows, traveling internationally, and I’m always on the hunt for new Asian food trucks and restaurants.
-
Brittany MacPherson
SOUTHWEST COORDINATOR
(She/Her)Daughter of Peruvian immigrants, community organizer & activist, and Arizona born & raised. My love of weddings led me to jumping into this industry in 2019 and I've loved it ever since. My goal is to bring the BIPOC events industry together and provide an inclusive & representative experience for couples all over Arizona.
-
Melodie Deisher
SOCIAL MEDIA TEAM
(She / Her)Hi there! My name is Melodie -- I'm a proud Chinese American and bi-lingual in Mandarin Chinese and English. When I'm not behind the camera shooting weddings, engagements, etc, I'm working my day job in corporate marketing and also pursuing side-projects in nonprofit development.
I was born in China and grew up in Portland. I've since relocated to the Bay but am passionate about building up VoC in both Portland and the Bay Area. I hope through my involvement that I can help support other Vendors of Color by helping them build strong connections and a supportive network with other early-stage entrepreneurs (like myself!) and those who have years of experience in the industry.
-
Nathan Ochoa
SEATTLE COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MANAGER
(He / Him)Hi! My name is Nathan, and I am a proud Mexican American, born and raised in Southern California. For the past five years, I’ve called Washington home, working alongside my wife as we pursue our journey as creative entrepreneurs—traveling as far and wide as our clients and couples take us.
Before making the leap into full-time entrepreneurship, I worked for a large technology company while also dedicating my time to our location’s Affinity Network, focusing on bringing equity and inclusion to LatinX members and our allies. That experience reinforced my passion for building meaningful connections and creating spaces where everyone feels seen and valued.
I’m excited to contribute to VoC by helping build longer tables instead of taller walls—fostering a strong, supportive community for fellow creatives and entrepreneurs. Let’s uplift, collaborate, and create together!
-
Joie Thongsavath
GRAPHIC DESIGN & SOCIAL MEDIA TEAM
(She / Her)Hi, I’m Joie! I’m a Hmong American wedding photographer with nearly two decades of experience, originally from the Bay Area and now rooted in the Pacific Northwest. My journey into photography began with a deep love for chasing golden sunsets, storytelling, and capturing life’s fleeting moments for friends and family. After photographing my first wedding, I knew this was where my heart belonged—and the rest is history!
When I’m not behind the camera, I’m raising two little humans alongside my husband, balancing motherhood with my passion for photography, graphic design, and marketing. I’m deeply committed to building an inclusive and supportive wedding community, especially championing fellow BIPOC creatives. I believe in creating spaces where every story is valued, celebrated, and beautifully told. I’m thrilled to continue fostering meaningful connections within the PNW and beyond—one frame at a time.

Tabria Etuk
MENTORSHIP PROGRAM MANAGER
(She / Her)I am Black and Queer Portland Native who is proud to push the envelope and think outside of the box. I have a deep love for all that the PNW has to offer, and my passion for Event Design and Curation comes from my theater background and time in the entertainment industry.
For the past 15 years, I’ve been deeply involved in the Portland Queer Community, holding leadership roles like Ms. Jr. Gay Pride and Imperial Princess XLIX of the Imperial Sovereign Rose Court of Portland. Through raising money and organizing events for nonprofits, I’ve built meaningful connections that have shaped my approach to event planning.
When I am not working, I am spending time with my loving wife Brittany and our adorable three year old, Enderlyn. I enjoy traveling, the ocean, being outdoors, gardening, learning, and shopping. I pride myself on being kind, a hard worker, and the most loyal friend ❤️
